Indianapolis has undergone a transformation over the last 40 years, transitioning from a state capital surrounded by farms and cornfields to a destination for people looking for great places to live, work and raise families. The city has numerous amenities and suburbs like Carmel and Fishers which are always being highlighted among the best places to live in the US.
During this time, the city of Westfield has largely flown under the radar in comparison to their neighboring cities in Hamilton County, just north of Indianapolis. This all changed in 2010 when Mayor Andy Cook secured $49 million in funding to build Grand Park, what has become the preeminent sports facility in the Midwest.
Every week throughout the year, you’ll see thousands of athletes, coaches and parents playing baseball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, lacrosse…every club sport imaginable on Grand Park’s state of the art fields and courts, all situated on a sprawling 400 acre campus. Since opening in 2016, Grand Park has drawn an average of 1.8 million visitors per year. In 2018, they added the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts and the NBA’s Indiana Pacers as tenants as the Colts hold their annual training camp and the Pacers have a practice facility there.
Naturally, Cook’s now-realized vision extended beyond athletics. All of those visitors have translated into hotels, restaurants and a boom in Westfield’s economy and population. Since 2010, Westfield’s population has grown over 50%, including a 4.7% growth rate in 2020.
That amazing growth didn’t catch the rest of Westfield by surprise either. The infrastructure continues to advance to manage the increased traffic, homes and apartments are popping up all over, and the Westfield Washington schools continue to be among the best in the state. Even with the population explosion, Westfield still maintains a 17:1 student-teacher ratio.
Westfield offers a set of benefits that really just can’t be matched in America. You can get quality housing in good school systems and travel well-constructed roads to be just about anywhere you want in the greater Indianapolis area in 45 minutes or less. Try that in Chicago, Nashville or St. Louis.
Within this distance you have Indianapolis and those previously mentioned suburbs, award-winning schools, colleges and universities, state-of-the-art hospitals and medical care, Fortune 500 businesses, and much, much more.
You might think that the lower cost of living in Westfield would mean fewer amenities. That’s definitely not the case. Westfield is brimming with parks and playgrounds. Just last year the Midland Trace bike trail was completed, which connects Westfield with neighboring city Noblesville, as well as the Monon Trail, which runs all the way into downtown Indianapolis. Also, construction just began on what will be the largest pickleball complex in the Midwest.
If you are looking to promote property in Westfield or recruit others to come here, let me know. As you can see, I’ve captured Westfield from perspectives that others don’t offer. I would love to get the images or video that show your vision of Westfield.
