3, 2, 1 . . . It’s the end of January!! We have survived the first month of 2022! And if you live in cold weather as I do, you have made it one month closer to spring!
Did you start the new year thinking, FINALLY! We are done with COVID and will never have to hear those nasty four letters again! Two years is long enough, right? You made a list of resolutions or goals you had for 2022. You were on fire and excited. Now one month into the new year, you are tired of the cold, the snow and COVID won’t go away. You’ve also lost your momentum and gotten behind. I have three simple words for you SPRING IS COMING!
Spring is coming! Forget about the cold and focus on the Spring to come. If you mess up today, that’s okay; there’s a new beginning tomorrow. Keep putting forth the effort. It doesn’t matter if you made it to the gym 5 days a week, did you make it 1? It’s a win! Did you eat healthy dinners all week, but blew it on a carton of ice cream for dinner last night because you had a bad day? Again, it’s okay. Start over tomorrow. Spring is coming!
I started this journey a couple of years ago, and I’ve made plenty of mistakes, missed opportunities and moments where I’ve fallen short. Here are a few things I have learned along the way constantly reminding me spring is coming:
Change Your Mindset!
If you looked up overthinking in the dictionary, you might find my picture next to the word. I have all the symptoms and the diagnosis would not take long. I have some big ideas and the passion I have for photography, drones and videography is not cheap! I have spent money on items I realized later I didn’t need. I have missed opportunities because I allowed comparison to sneak up and tell me I could not do it. The list could go and on, but I am always reminding myself that Spring is coming. It is not easy. It’s a mindset needing daily practice, if not hourly! Acknowledge what has happened and move on. Most importantly, learn from the process.
Learn from Your Mistakes!
Too many times we make a small mistake and allow it to gain momentum rolling down the hill until it consumes our day, week, or even month. Let’s face it, we all make mistakes. We don’t say the right thing, we miss opportunities, or botch the proposal we had worked so hard on. I could write a book on the amount of mistakes I have allowed to consume me over the years. If only I had . . . I just want to go back, change or do it over! Spring is coming. A new opportunity is just around the corner!
Let it Go!
Mistakes will happen! We should take time to reflect with our renewed mindset, learn from them, and let them go! As an entrepreneur, or anyone pursuing their passion, this is easier said than done. We can also take the criticism from someone and hold on tight as if our life was hanging in the balance. We cannot allow ourselves to be defined by someone else’s critique. Is there anything you can glean from this? If so, adjust and refocus on your work. In the end, it could make you even better at your craft. If it is just an insecure person who has way too much time on their hand, experience it, feel it, and let it go. Spring is coming. And with it, the snow and the cold will be left behind.
